Volkswagen's SEAT Cupra e-Racer

At the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, Volkswagen's SEAT debuted their Cupra e-Racer, the first completely electric touring-class race car. Gentex supplied three cameras and a display to provide the vehicle’s rear and side vision.

Cadillac

In 2017, Cadillac returned to prototype racing and their Daytona Prototype international (DPi) race cars will be equipped with Gentex GNTX-R Full Display Mirror systems. The No.10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-VR, competed in the full 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Prototype class and debuted at the Rolex 24 in January.

Wayne Taylor Racing swept the first five races of the season, ultimately taking home the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech Championship title. Cadillac, the first automaker to debut the Full Display Mirror on light vehicles, brought Gentex together with Wayne Taylor Racing and we couldn't be prouder to have been a technology partner for their historic race season.

Porsche

In 2016, Gentex became an Official Supplier of Porsche Motorsports LMP1. We equipped both the No. 1 and No. 2 Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 prototypes with our intelligent rear vision systems, which helped “see” Porsche to its record-setting 18th victory a the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Toyota Gazoo Racing

In 2015, Gentex provided Toyota Gazoo Racing with its hybrid full display mirror and high-dynamic-range imager. Toyota’s LFA driving team noted how well the Gentex system worked under the grueling race conditions of the Nür 24hrs in Nürburgring, Germany, at which the team finished first in class (SP-Pro) and 14th overall.

In 2016, Gentex again provided a racing version of its Full Display Mirror system to Toyota Gazoo Racing for Nürburgring 24 Hours, at which the team finished 24th overall.

Nissan Motorsports

In 2015, Gentex provided Nissan’s LMP1 race cars with a complete rear vision system consisting of dimmable, electrochromic exterior mirrors; a custom LCD display that appeared through the mirrors reflective surface when powered, and a Gentex-designed high-dynamic-range CMOS imager optimized for rear video. The system also utilized Gentex’s image processing software developed for high-speed data transmission. Gentex is an Official Technical Partner of the Nissan GT-R LM NISMO.

In 2016, Gentex was at the Nürburgring 24 Hours Race as an official Team Partner of the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, to which we supplied a racing version of our Full Display Mirror system.  The Nissan GT Academy Team finished an impressive 11th in-class and overall.

Audi Motorsports

In 2012, Gentex provided Audi with a custom camera solution that provided sight to their digital rearview mirrors. The imagers delivered an unprecedented dynamic range of 10,000,000:1, with each imager pixel capable of determining its own exposure. The camera was capable of capturing a direct image of the sun without blooming or obscuring course markings while at night, resolving headlamps into single-point light sources while keeping legible course edges and objects on the horizon.

The system was installed on the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro and R18 Ultra race cars, which gave Audi a legendary 1-2-3 win at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans that year.

A passenger-vehicle version of the camera was subsequently commercialized and debuted on the 2013 R8 e-tron.
